Applying tile sealers to your ceramic or porcelain tiles is very necessary. First, it prevents stains from penetrating into your tile. Also, it makes cleaning easy and efficient. While the process of applying a sealant is complex, it’s advised that you reach out to a professional for quality work. Nonetheless, experts use the following three quick steps to apply the sealants.
Step 1
First and foremost, you need to ensure your tiles are thoroughly cleaned and free from any dust or debris. Note that the outcome won’t be satisfying if you apply the sealant with contaminants underneath.
Step 2
After doing your cleaning, you need to settle on a sealer that is best suitable for you and apply it on the tile surface using an applicator. First, apply a thin layer of the tile sealer in one direction till you cover the entire floor. This will help you remove any smudge marks or product build-ups.
Step 3
Let the tile sealer sit on the tile for about 10 minutes to penetrate into the tile. You can then use a rag to buff away the excess sealer left on the surface. If you are sealing natural stone, you would want to add another layer before bluffing. After the second layer, you can let it settle for 2 hours and test if water is penetrating the surface. If you notice any penetration, then you can apply the third layer.
Repeat the procedure until you achieve the desired outcome.
